Ernesto Valverde was fulsome in his praise for Leo Messi following Tuesday’s 6-1 win over Eibar at Camp Nou where he scored his 300th Camp Nou goal. “There are no words to describe him. He’s an incredibly talented player, extraordinary.”

He also praised FC Barcelona’s work against an obdurate opponent, but was looking ahead to future challenges. “We’re pleased how the last two games have gone, but now we have to face Girona,” Valverde added.

“We’re happy after today’s clash against a tough foe.”

He also went on to make reference to the minutes given to players who aren’t always in the starting line-up. “We had the chance today to rest a few players, and the guys who stepped in today did well.”

He also praised summer signings Nélson Semedo and Paulinho. “They are adapting very well, and we hope they continue like this.”

Finally, he took time to make mention the the performance of substitute Aleix Vidal, who laid on an assist. “He’s a very versatile player, who can play in the attack or at right back,” the manager concluded.
