According to a report by Premium Times, suspected Boko Haram men yesterday May 26th attacked villages in the rocky mountains of Gwoza town of Borno State, killing 9 villagers and setting various houses and churches in the area ablaze. Reports say the men hoisted their flag at Ashigashiya ward of Gwoza LGA, a place they now claim istheir headquarters.Speaking to newsmen, a local government official, Nglamuda Ibrahim confirmed the incident and said that some of the villagers with bullet wounds are currently taking refuge at the top of the mountains. He said no help, either from the police or military has come to those that were injured since the attack and that the sect men are believed to be preparing for a second attack. Continue..." The soldier who did not want to be named told us that apart from foot soldiers, choppers were seen hovering in the air while the attacks were ongoing, but no assistance was rendered to the people. Gamboru Ngala, a neighbouring community in the Nigeria-Cameroon border was attacked on May 5 where over 300 people were killed with manyhouses and a market completely razed down.

A presidential convoy was today held hostage by hundreds of protesting students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, after security details attached to the convoy allegedly shot at them. The convoy led by a Toyota SUV with ‘Presidency’ inscription and registration number, FG902-B02, tried to drive through the students who were protesting an increase in fees by the university. Two of the students reportedly sustained injuries. One of the leaders of the protest told PREMIUM TIMES on phone:“ The security details shot at us. We have held them hostage. Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka known for being outspoken on April 21, Wednesday said that while he may have publicly chastised First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan he has reacted to the report making rounds that he called the First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan an 'illiterate'. Soyinka while clearing the air on the report in a statement released said he never made such reference to the first lady let alone link President Goodluck Jonathan's governance with his wife's educational attributes or lack thereof. Boko Haram Terrorists Arrested By Citizens In Dikwa Say Abducted Girls Are In Sambisa Eight Boko Haram terrorists who came out to get food and items from Goym village in Dikwa local government, Borno state were arrested by visiting Civilian Joint Task Force men who came from Gwoza. The terrorists who came in a hilux truck with some motorcycles were arrested at 4pm Friday evening. Upon interrogation, the terrorists revealed that the 234 girls abducted from Chibok were still in Sambisa forest and that they had been divided into three groups. They describe the camps in Sambisa as very large. They saidthey were sent by their leader to get items including clothes for the girls. The civilians hoped military support will be sent to Dikwa immediately as it is likely the terrorists return when they find their men were arrested. Bored out of my mind…sitting at home on Easter Sunday with all the festivities wearing out, I was thinking of something to do that required no effort at all. Ah! I thought, I’ll flick around the TV channels. I start flicking the local TV channels and I am attracted to the loud music booming from one of the channels.
