Liliane Bettencourt, the L'Oréal heiress and the world's richest woman, has died. Mrs Bettencourt passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 94, her daughter Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers has announced. "Liliane Bettencourt died this night at home. She would have been 95 on October 21. My mother left peacefully," Mrs Bettencourt-Meyers said in a statement. Mrs Bettencourt was ranked the richest woman in the world with a fortune of $39.5 billion last year, making her the world's 14th richest person.  In a statement, L'Oréal chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Agon expressed his condolences to the family and said: "We all had a deep admiration for Liliane Bettencourt who has always watched over L'Oréal, the company and its employees, and who was very attached to its success and development. An 11year old boy has died after been electrocuted by wires in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The Boy identified as Kingsley was said to have come in contacts with fallen electric wires at Biogbolo community in the Yenagoa metropolis. A source, identified simply as Jessica, a resident of the community, claimed that Kingsley died immediately after coming into contacts with the collapsed cables. She said the boy (Kingsley) was allegedly tricked by his friends to pick up the cable from the ground. Jessica said, ‘’ The victim is a JSS 3 pupil. He was electrocuted in company with his friends. ‘’The boy was tricked by his peers to pick up the lying powerline cable that fell down from a pole in the area.’’ When contacted on the development, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, a deputy superintendent of police, said he had not been briefed on the incident. He, however, described the incident as ‘’pathetic and unfortunate.”

The  Rivers State Police Command has arrested One Elizabeth Agboje, who allegedly tortured her adopted daughter a nine-year-old Miss Bright Maxson after tagging her a witch before. The lawyer, who has two biological children, was said to have continually subjected the girl to degrading treatment without minding the implication. A 55 year old pastor Lawrence Adepoju, has petitioned an Igando Customary Court to dissolve his 33-year-old marriage over threat to life by his wife, Rachael. The North Korea government has mocked the fierce warning issued by US President Donald Trump in his first address at the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, The Guardian reports. Trump in the speech said the US would be forced to “totally destroy” North Korea if pushed to the wall. He also echoed his earlier tweet where he called Kim “rocket man”. The President said, “Rocketman is on a suicide mission for himself and his regime.” According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, the foreign minister said, “There is a saying that the marching goes on even when dogs bark,” citing a Korean proverb. “If he was thinking he could scare us with the sound of a dog barking, that’s really a dog dream,” he added. Facebook says it will give $1 million to the Red Cross in Mexico to help rebuild areas that were decimated by a powerful earthquake this week. The tech giant said in addition to its gift to Cruz Roja Mexicana, a branch of the International Red Cross, it is working with the United Nations Children’s Fund, or UNICEF, to waive fees on donations made on UNICEF’s Facebook page. The 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Central Mexico on Tuesday. Its epicenter was perilously close to Mexico’s densely populated capital city. More than 200 people have been reported dead so far. A Facebook spokesperson said people have been using its social media platform to “come together” following the disaster. “Since the earthquake, we’ve seen thousands of Community Help postings (currently over 10,000) with people offering and asking for volunteer work, transportation, shelter and food,” spokesperson Jenna Stokes said in an email. Actor Bernie Casey, who appeared in such films as Boxcar Bertha, Never Say Never Again and Revenge of the Nerds after a career as a standout NFL wide receiver, has died. He was 78.  Casey, who also starred in Cleopatra Jones and several other blaxploitation movies of the 1970s, died Tuesday after a brief illness at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his representative told The Hollywood Reporter.
