Uganda Minister Disguise herself as Patient to Hospital, Arrests 2 Corrupt Doctors
Uganda Minister for Health for General Duties, Hon. Sarah Opendi on Friday disguised herself as a patient and busted a couple of corrupt medical workers in Kampala. The Minister dressed up in a burka (Muslim attire) in order to investigate reports of alleged corruption at China- Naguru Hospital, Kampala.
Two health workers, according to a statement by the Health Ministry, were arrested when the attempted to solicit a bribe from the veiled “patient.”
The arrested are a laboratory technician and a nursing assistant. These were arrested by the Minister and Health Monitoring Unit for charging the Minister and other patient’s illicit amounts of money for services meant to be given free to the public.
The health workers, the ministry says, were handed over to police for necessary action.
