                              An unidentified man has been arrestd by the police in Calabar after he was caught stealing meat from a Reverend father's Kitchen. According to reports the Man who stays with the Parish Priest of St. Paul Catholic Church, Rev. Father Francis Effiong atboys Quater had gone to steal the meat from fridge after the Reverend went for service yesterday morning. But was caught when he was trying to leave the Kitchen, He confessed to have stolen washing machines, television sets, cookers from the Priest’s house before now.

A 10-year-old boy, identified as Chimobi, has been taken into protective custody by the Lagos State Government after his brother’s wife, Gift Igwe, allegedly set him ablaze at their home on Adenugba Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu after he misplaced his trousers and could not produce them when Gift demanded them from him. Policemen from the Igbogbo division were said to have arrested the suspect. A source told PUNCH Metro that the child was brought to Lagos in 2016 by the brother to start living with his family. He said since then, Gift had been abusing Chimobi, adding that matter came to a head when she set him ablaze that Wednesday. Chimobi the victim said his brother and his wife had refused to enrol him in a school since he started living with them. “I misplaced my trousers and ‘mummy’ (sister-in-law) poured kerosene on me and used a matchstick to light fire. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says its investigative team has not been allowed to meet with the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, in the United Kingdom, where she has been staying since 2015 when investigation into her tenure began. A 15year old girl has been declared missing by his Guardian, As he's yet to return home since last week Monday when he left for school in Ogun state. Asmau Ajibade, a Junior Secondary School 2 pupil of Agbara Commuinty had left the house at about 7.30am last Monday in her school uniform. The belief in the house was that she had gone to school. The guardians became apprehensive when it was 4pm and she had not returned home. Record of the school reportedly revealed that she was absent that day. Ajarat said the girl had been living with them since she was four years old, adding that she was surprised by her disappearance. She said it was the first time she would leave home without returning. Google has bought part of HTC's mobile phone division for $1.1bn (£820m), a return to hardware ownership for the company. The deal will see 2,000 HTC staff join the US internet giant and underlines Google's broadening ambitions in smartphone production. Google develops the Android operating system used in more than 80pc of the world's smartphones but largely relies on manufacturers like Samsung, Huawei and HTC itself to make and sell its phones, unlike Apple, which controls the design and development of both software and hardware. Last year it released the first Google-branded phone, the Pixel, which is manufactured by HTC, and is gearing up to release a new model next month, but having thousands of staff join the company will expand the venture. The Pixel has been well received but only produced in small quantities.

Mrs Bettencourt passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 94, her daughter Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers has announced. "Liliane Bettencourt died this night at home. An 11year old boy has died after been electrocuted by wires in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The Boy identified as Kingsley was said to have come in contacts with fallen electric wires at Biogbolo community in the Yenagoa metropolis. A source, identified simply as Jessica, a resident of the community, claimed that Kingsley died immediately after coming into contacts with the collapsed cables. She said the boy (Kingsley) was allegedly tricked by his friends to pick up the cable from the ground. Jessica said, ‘’ The victim is a JSS 3 pupil. He was electrocuted in company with his friends. ‘’The boy was tricked by his peers to pick up the lying powerline cable that fell down from a pole in the area.’’ When contacted on the development, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, a deputy superintendent of police, said he had not been briefed on the incident. He, however, described the incident as ‘’pathetic and unfortunate.”

The  Rivers State Police Command has arrested One Elizabeth Agboje, who allegedly tortured her adopted daughter a nine-year-old Miss Bright Maxson after tagging her a witch before.
