Blind boy thanks 'hero' student who saved him from school bully
A blind boy has thanked the "hero" student who 'saved his life' after he was viciously attacked by a school bully.
Remember the shocking footage of school boy Austin Higley being beaten by another pupil at his school in California that emerged online last month? The footage where the 16 year old was shown being repeatedly hit in the head by the bully before 17 year old student Cody Pines jumps in and stops the attack with a single punch, leaving the tormentor on the ground. Cody was then kicked out of Football for his involvement in the altercation but was later reinstated. The 17-year-old and Higley, who is registered blind, have known each other since elementary school.
They were both invited to the Dr Phil show. During the emotional interview on the show, Higley told Pines:
"Honestly, I feel like you saved my life." and they both hugged. Pines told Dr Phil he hopes his actions might make other bullies think twice.
"Think about what you're doing whenever you're bullying someone,' he said.
"That's another person's life. Could you imagine if someone else ruined your whole life by doing this?"
